Journalist Sonali Samarasinghe congratulates 2011 UNESCO /Guillermo Cano Prize Press Freedom Laureate Mr Ahmed Zeidabadi from Iran who is currently serving a six year jail term. Samarasinghe’s Editor husband Lasantha Wickrematunge was posthumously presented the Award by UNESCO in May 2009. The video was one of several other congratulatory messages aired at the Press Freedom Day event on May 3, in Washington DC. The UNESCO event was held for the first time in the United States and also marked the 20th anniversary of the Windhoek Declaration on press freedom.
