TCHR appeals to the the International community and files report in Geneva

The Tamil Centre for Human Rights which was established in 1990 and has branches in Switzerland and the United Kingdom has appealed to the international community to take a stand on Sri Lanka and has tabled a report at the 19th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

According to the TCHR it has participated in several forums and discussions with the  International community including on in June 2009 at discussions with the EU Commission’s three appointed independent external experts (regarding GSP+ benefits) – on the effectiveness of Sri Lanka’s implementation of certain core human rights conventions. It was also a registered participant in the World Social Forum 2009 in Belem, Brazil Jan 27- Feb 1, 2009, in the 61st annual DPI/NGO conference in UNESCO, Paris, 3-5 September 2008 and the European Social Forum 2008 in Malmo, Sweden 17-21 Sept 2008, among others.
