The superhero quits in a "Jerry Maguire"-like fashion after getting frustrated with how modern journalism has given way to entertainment under the Daily Planet's new multimedia corporation, Galaxy Broadcasting. Though it's not the first time the iconic character has left the newspaper, writer Scott Lobdell says "He is more likely to start the next Huffington Post or the next Drudge Report than he is to go find someone else to get assignments or draw a paycheck from." It's one of many other shakeups in comic books, including how Clark Kent and Lois Lane are no longer married and a romance has bloomed between Superman and Wonder Woman."
