The Human Rights Council Sessions in Geneva commenced. Representatives of member countries are now participating in the meeting. The 19th Sessions of the UN Human Rights Council Sessions commenced on February 27, 2012. Representatives of 47 member countries are attending the sessions. The Sessions will continue until the 27th of March. The attention of the people have been drawn to the sessions as a result of efforts made by Western countries led by the United states along with LTTE loyalist groups to bring forth a conspiratorial Resolution against Sri Lanka. However, reports emanating from Geneva said that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanetham Pillai in her opening statement had made no mention on Sri Lanka. Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe was slated to deliver his speech this evening, clarifying the real situation prevailing in Sri Lanka.
