The Uthayan newspaper offices and press were attacked and set on fire around 4.45am on April 13, 2013. The newspaper is situated on Kasturiar Road in the heavily militarised Jaffna. The newspaper is own by Tamil National Alliance Jaffna district parliamentarian, E. Saravanapavan
